Running Time: 2:48
Indications:
- Nasal obstruction
- Need for improved surgical access prior to ESS
Highlights:
- Steps are similar to those for a standard septoplasty performed with a headlight; however, visualization (particularly of the posterior septum) is improved
- Routine septoplasty instruments can be used with the endoscope
- Initial incision is made through mucosa posterior to mucocutaneous junction (referred to as a “high septal incision”)
Keep in Mind:
- Extreme caudal deflections can be difficult to correct
- Best to learn this technique on posterior deflections
